Two separate
incidents have
recently heaped
pressure on Scotland’s
lucrative trophy hunting
industry.
German airline Lufthansa
has banned hunters fl ying
to Scotland with their rifl es
after the airline received a
warning for mishandling
fi rearms at UK airports and
a few weeks later prominent
American TV personality
and ‘huntress’ Larysa Switlyk
received a social media
backlash after posting trophy
shots of a goat she had
shot, forcing the Scottish
government to review
animal culling laws.
A spokesman for
Lufthansa said that it had
encountered “repeated
problems in regards to the
import of hunting weapons
via our commercial fl ights.
“To avoid these diffi culties
with the authorities,
Lufthansa has imposed
a weapon embargo for
its passengers on fl ights
to certain airports in the
United Kingdom.”
Brussels Airlines, which
comes under the same
umbrella as Lufthansa, has
taken the step of banning
fi rearms from all fl ights to
and from Britain.
